Perms vs. Deep Conditioners

Ladies, why do we choose to put a perm in our hair? To get the good hair “look” or for your own pleasure? Do you REALLY know what perming your hair can do to the volume? Well, that is why I am here. I will give you a whole new outlook on rather if you should perm or deep condition and I think you can figure out that I favor deep conditioning over perming. Perms have been around for a very very VERY long time, and honestly it is NOT needed. Perms are dangerous and here’s why.

Dangers of A Perm:

  1. Perms can leave bald spots. YES, BALD SPOTS!!! Perms are chemicals. The chemical in a perm is called: Ammonium thioglycolate. It can take away the protein and moisture your hair has gained. Your hair can become weaker and it is easier to receive split ends and to lose hair.

  2. It can create split ends. As I mentioned earlier, a perm can take a lot of moisture out of your hair. Think of your hair as being your skin, and we need to moisture our skin DAILY to have that beautiful glow! When your hair has split ends, it basically is dried out. When it dries, it breaks off leaving your hair unhealthy looking and has your scalp very itchy.

  3. Burns on your scalp from a perm just might be the worst. When you leave your perm in for the exact right amount of time your scalp will start burning. This is very uncomfortable but we have to deal with it once applying it. After you wash, dry, and style it, you’re left with scabs from the burn which turn a yellowish color. YUCK! Want to know what’s worst then not having straight hair? Having nasty scabs on your head!

Deep conditioning is probably one of the best things to ever exist! I used to receive perms when I was younger because I hated my hair texture. It never wanted to stay straight AT ALL! My hair have broken off and left me with the horrible scabs. Being that my hair is already thin, it started to become thinner! I had no other choice rather than to STOP USING PERMS! I am approximately 2 years perm FREE and I am excited at the results I am receiving for going on my hair rehab (lol). Deep conditioning gives me EXTRA moisture and a lot of protein. My hair is very silky and slick. I never had this kind of result before. Below are some of the best deep conditioners I have used:

  1. The Aussie Moist 3 Minute Miracle ( deeeeep treatment )

  2. The Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Strong ( 10x Stronger in 3 Minutes )

  3. Macadamia Oil ( Hydrating Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment )

Those are the main three that I use all of the time. It will not disappoint. They are all very affordable.

Keep them in for at least an hour with a heating cap ladies!

If you use one of the three deep conditioners above, I would love to see your results!
