Poshers,

I have shared with you recently about a new journey that is taking place in my life. “The natural hair journey” is what some people say, but I call it a new beginning. Ever since I’ve cut my hair, I have been receiving non-stop compliments. I honestly love the compliments because it makes me feel good and BEAUTIFUL.

People ask me daily about how do I get my curls to pop and today’s your lucky day because I am here to spill my not so big secret. I am introduced to new products daily, but not every product is meant for your hair! I have learned that by of course experimenting and wasting money. The products that I have become accustomed to are products that will work for every black, bold, and beautiful woman.

Here is my secret, are you ready?

First things first, rub coconut oil/olive oil ( I personally use coconut oil) through your scalp and comb out your hair before washing (I suggest that you oil before you comb through because you want the oil to reach all of your hair). What that does is moisturize your hair so it won’t be hard to comb through and your pores open up when you wash your hair, so you want to make sure your hair is getting all of the vitamins. #gallery-453-3 { margin: auto; } #gallery-453-3 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-453-3 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-453-3 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */

To wash my hair I use the Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Conditioning Shampoo and Repairing Conditioner. I am in love with Palmer’s products when it comes to skin and hair. All of their products are pure. When I wash my hair, I shampoo first to get all of the dirt and oils left over out. After I shampoo (which is only once) I condition my hair about two times and wash it out. Then I deep condition with Shea Moisture’s Leave-In Conditioner. To deep condition, I use a plastic cap and keep that on for about 30 minutes or so. #gallery-453-4 { margin: auto; } #gallery-453-4 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-453-4 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-453-4 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */

After I deep condition I wash my hair out and I do my final comb through. (Take note that I only comb my hair twice. Once before I wash my hair and once while I am washing out my leave-in conditioner.) Now to dry my hair, I use an old t-shirt rather than a towel. Yes, a t-shirt. Towels that we use to dry our bodies can snag and pull on your beautiful hair and we want to prevent that. #gallery-453-5 { margin: auto; } #gallery-453-5 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-453-5 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-453-5 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */

I am finally done with the wash now styling my hair is easy. To get now fluffy and defined curls I spray my hair with a spray bottle full of water. After I do that, I get a handful of Miss Jessie’s Coily Custard and rub it in my hair in a circular motion all around my head. I then spray some more water into my hair and get a handful of Eco Styler Olive Oil Gel and coil my curls with my finger. I coil my curls in random places all around my head so it won’t be a slow process, then I once again through my head in a circular motion and BAM, there goes my curls.

It is important that you care for your hair, especially if you have kinky hair. It is all about your personal hygiene.

It may seem like a lot, but it really isn’t. Everyone has a different hair routine and this happens to be mine. What are your routines like? Mention me on twitter and let’s chat more! Here is my NEW Twitter page @StepInsideTea.
